We are proud to be one of the few chiropractic offices in the area to utilize the Computerized Fixation Imaging System because we are committed to providing the highest quality of care to our patients!

Computerized Fixation Imaging

How It’s Different
Computerized Fixation Imaging (CFI) is an analysis tool as well as a treatment modality using precisely controlled, low force, multiple impulses designed to generate gentle joint mobilization.

How It Works
In the analysis mode, the CFI instrument tests each vertebra by generating a gentle mechanical impulse (light tap) and uses a sensor in the impulse head to measure each vertebra’s resistance to the impulse.

When all vertebrae are moving normally, their resistance is fairly equal. However, if a vertebra is restricted in motion (fixated/subluxated), its resistance to the impulse is higher than the resistance of normally moving vertebrae. Normal movement of each and every spinal joint is considered to be essential to good spinal function.
Once a joint is determined to be fixated, the instrument may also be used to give gentle, mechanical thrusts into the restricted joint to help break up fixation, relieve muscle spasm, and restore normal joint mobility.

Chiropractic Science At It’s Best!

In some cases, a series of these treatments may be necessary to obtain maximum benefits. Precision and gentleness are the keys to the CFI System’s popularity and appeal.

FDA Clearance
Computerized Fixation Imaging has been reviewed by the FDA and approved for use for musculoskeletal pain due to joint subluxation, restricted joint mobility, myofascial spasm, ligamentous strain, as well as tissue compliance analysis.

Will The Treatments Hurt?
If you are in extreme pain, almost any intervention may cause some temporary discomfort. However, most patients find both analysis and treatment with the CFI instrument rather comfortable and many prefer it to the more aggressive manual adjustments.

What Do The Computer Graphs Mean?
Computerized Fixation Imaging measures the resistance to the movement of the spinal joints (or other joints) your chiropractor may test. Joint resistance is displayed as a bar graph, with each bar representing a vertebra that has been tested. Your chiropractor uses the results of the CFI analysis along with other assessments such as patient history, posture, palpation findings, ranges of motion, etc., to decide if, when, and where to adjust your spinal or other joint structures.

The CFI analysis graphs enable your doctor to show you accurately why and where the treatment takes place as well as the effects of your treatment.

Are There Any Side Effects With the CFI Treatments?
CFI treatments are very gentle, but in some very rare cases people who bruise easily and suffer from capillary fragility may experience slight bruising or soreness following a treatment. Should this happen to you, please let your doctor know so that the amount of thrust pressure can be further reduced on subsequent visits.

Will Using The CFI System Cost More?
The CFI Instrument is relatively expensive, but your chiropractor is dedicated to providing the best care possible and has made the investment in this advanced technology to maintain his commitment to your health care. Still, except for a small additional charge for analysis graphing, there is relatively no extra cost to the patient for the CFI treatments.

Validity and Documentation
This system generates increased levels of validity and documentation because the testing produces objective evidence of the patient’s status not available by other means. This can be very helpful when insurance coverage and legal evidence are involved.
